Rochester’s notorious winters have not taken a break this year and it’s causing everyone here at Wine Sense to go into hibernation mode! The only thing anyone can talk about is warming their backside by the fire… with the right beverage of course!

That’s where the debate begins. Which is the perfect fireside drink? Well, instead of bickering amongst ourselves we’ve decided to let the customers act as tasters and judge of our little tiff.

We’ve narrowed it down to 3 fireside favorites, but I’m afraid, that’s all I can tell you. We won’t reveal the label of any bottle until the tasting!

    And the nominees are…

    Scotch

rich, supple & a favorite amongst 19th century fireside poets

    Tawny Port

nutty, medium dry & best served after dinner

    Full-Bodied New World Red Wine

bold, dry & elevated in flavor when served alongside a nice cut of beef

Along with our “Fireside Favorites” we’ll also be pouring our wine of the week, Esencia Albariño! We hope to see you Friday night 5-8pm to join in our debate! Always fun & Always FREE

    Esencia Diviña Albariño 2009

    Distinctive & Aromatic Spanish White

Our W.o.W. is an elegant, dry white from Rías Baixas region in Spain. This particular Albariño is fragrant, dry and intensely fruity. Not overly complex, Esencia Diviña has good weight and mouth-feel that carries it into a long and interesting finish. I’d pair this wine with a spicy Thai or Indian dish.

    Esencia Diviña Albariño 2009

    Retail Price: $19.99

    W.o.W. Price: $16.99

We’re all over the map for this weeks tasting, just a sampling of some of our favorite regions.

The first is a lovely New York state white, Gratitude is a blend of Finger Lakes white varietals expressing balanced fruit with uncompromising structure. With flavors of melon, lime and green apples it still maintains a soft lingering mouthfeel.

Next up is the Ermita Crianza, an herby red blend with lively acidity and great focus.

Lastly is the Full Boar Red from our beloved Paso Robles. We’re not quite sure what it is about this region but we’re gaga over it! A mostly Cabernet Sauvignon blend, Full Boar is robust and rich while remaining an easy-drinking wine.

Imagine Moore Gratitude White Table Wine 2009

    Feature Price: $10.49

    Ermita Crianza Rioja 2006

    Feature Price: $13.49
